These two legends are both unique in style and create both great atmospheres in their respective bands, solo work etc...but if you had to choose...which of these fine players is more suited to your taste and why.

Both are fine artists. It was a shame how Hackett got screwed out of Genesis. And yes, I know he quit...but under the circumstances he did so cuz he was getting screwed. Genesis could have evolved all the better if he’d stayed. But at the end of the day I have to go with Gilmour. His playing cuts you to the bone and straight to your soul. He is not my favourite guitarist, but is certainly in my top 5.
