Motown and 60s pop. I heard them almost concurrently as a child, it was like a soundtrack.

@bijouxbroussard My childhood music was my mom's music from her 20s, which was in the 1960s. Like that "Friendly Liberal Neighborhood Ku Klux Klan" song I linked you a little while ago.

@CaptainCanadia That's so cool. My parents were in their 20s during the 1950s. They weren't exactly beatniks---but close.

@bijouxbroussard And my parents were freaks - so a kind of offshot of the hippies. But they did manage to live in a commune where the dealer on site hid his acid in a tree, which the squirrels got in to.

@bijouxbroussard My dad tells the story in that they froze like statues on the tree with a weird face before stiffening and plummeting to the ground. It's kind of morbid but a hilarious image.
