I would start with the piano.... it will massively help your ability to read and understand music and once you can play just simple things, if you don't like the instrument you can easily change to another. BUT... you do need to persevere to the point where you can play simple things and not quit on the way. I play piano and violin and I started wiv the piano

Once you learn any instrument, you can figure out other ones a lot easier. If you even have the desire to play something, it won't take that many lessons to pick up on it. I took piano lessons only a few times, but I'm really good at playing once I get a song down

As a piano teacher I'm biased. And you need to have one to practice. But it is the most complete-in-itself instrument. Especially if you're serious about learning to read musical notation.
