August 14th is Beach Boys Day. What is your favourite Beach Boys song?

@Rutterman That's a good one. Did you know it came out as a single B-side in the USA? It was the A-side in the UK and it got to number 2 here (kept off the top by the Beatles' "Yellow Submarine"). The B-side was "Wouldn't It Be Nice" which was the A-side in the USA. "God Only Knows" was relegated to the B-side because apparently American radio stations were refusing to play non-religious songs that mentioned "God" in them.

@NankerPhelge I didn't know any of that. What a ridiculous reason not to play a song on the radio.

@Rutterman I don't know if they still have that policy now, but that was over 50 years ago. I was only 4 then and too young to realise what that was all about. Lol :)

@NankerPhelge I'm pretty sure I've heard the song on the radio, so the policy must not be in effect anymore.

@Rutterman I think I heard it on the radio recently, but I live in the UK and it wasn't banned here in the 1960s like it was in the States.
