I talked to two guys and neither have ever heard of her. And neither have heard the song, I got you babe.

Cher used it in her song 'Believe' to create this robotic sound. Basically autotune is what most pop musicians use to correct their vocals when they go flat while singing. But when its overused you sound robotic/like T-pain. Autotune is still called the 'Cher effect'
