Last night was bittersweet

So our daughter had her last cello lesson at home. Since school is starting there is no longer the need for the lessons. I'm going to miss hearing her play at home. The cello is big and will be hard for her to bring home every night. She will still bring home her violin so I'll get to hear her practice that at night.

Ok yeah, that's tough. I'd look into the possibility of getting or renting another, but if and I mean a big if, her aspirations would warrant such a decision and you could swing it financially.

But, most people would say, definitely not happening, including myself. I had enough trouble scraping enough up for my two kids instruments at the time.

@Levenrack I know it's far away but I was thinking of getting her one for Christmas. A really nice one. The one I got her now was one for beginners and isn't very fancy.

@Cigarguy yeah I was kind of curious after I sent that. So I looked at some. Well thank goodness they have multiple price ranges. All I gotta say. 🤑

@Levenrack well when I got her one for the summer I wasn't sure if she'd like it or want to keep playing. But she does so I will have to start saving for her. Open enrollment is in November so I'll be making some good money then. I always hope to get the boys a switch 2 and Joel a new iPad. His is so old it can't be updated anymore 😔

Why can't she continue with cello? They make smaller-sized instruments for younger children, I believe - they certainly do for violins. Anyway the grounding in a string instrument should set her in good stead, and you can listen to your Tortellini/Du Pres recordings instead! 🎻

@Strictsir she will play it at school along with the violin. It's just to big for her to bring home every day. I was saying I'm going to miss hearing her play at home. I'm going to get her a much better one for Christmas. Then she can leave one at home all the time. She brings her violin home every day

Don't they have music appreciation classes at her school? She would be really good at that.

@Barefooter25 she's in the orchestra and will be in classes at school so she's going to leave her cello at school during the week because it's to big to bring back and forth every day
