I Love Playing Guitar

What is so alluring about this particular instrument, the guitar?

I started playing guitar too late in life to become very good at it. I didn't have the inborn skill either, even though I'm pretty good at drums. Yet I probably enjoy playing guitar as much as any virtuoso does - all the time, in fact. How can that be, when the sound I produce on a guitar just isn't very impressive...?!

guitar is not always about the sound it generates, but the feeling. the feeling one gets hearing it, and the feeling one gets playing it. It's an expression of one's self. It's an extension of one's self, and whether you're Eric Clapton, or a 14 yr old boy practicing in your bedroom, the guitar can lift your spirits and create euphoria.

Yes! Euphoria is the word I was looking for. It must have something to do with what is going on inside your own head, versus the objective experience that your audience has while listening to you play.

Maybe "good" guitar players have a special ability to transfer that inner feeling to other listeners somehow.
