What comes after mastering Open chords? [I Love Guitars]

So I think I'm getting there with my open chords, age 35, after having practiced on and off on my journey of learning guitar for 2 years though my strumming is a bit off and fingerpicking really difficult still. I can play some songs and change chords (I know many shapes corresponding with notes), I've also been looking at theory and in to reading notation, but I'm not sure which pentatonic scale to learn first. Major or minor? GABCD or E! Some advice on this would be appreciated thanks!
Major chords and minor are both pretty important depending on the song. Have you learned any songs or just open chords and scales?
@SW-User Yeah, my mind’s a mess. It what forces me to create but it also tears me apart just as easily.

All great suggestions made thus far
There’s no wrong way or order, necessarily, to learn these things or approach.

Multiple chord shapes up and down the neck, triads are extremely useful, alternating thumb patterns, fingerpicking. Timing, the scales are important but don’t let that define you. Assuming you hold the guitar right handed, your left hand is your address, your right hand is your soul. Modes are an interesting way to find patterns that relate to specific genres, moods.
@Lucywrites I was just thinking, if you want a song that is great for beginning finger picking try Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt” by Nine Inch Nails. It’s one of the easiest finger picking and strum patterns in general and has an absolutely beautiful sound to it. I think you cooked have fun.

I'd say to compliment open chords start using alternate tunings to make the most of them. EG. DADGAD is a good one to play with. Depends on your level really.
@Ryannnnnn Maybe capo’s first. Down tuning can get complicated unless you are ready for that.

@Ryannnnnn that song by plain white ts- Hey There Delilah sounds great played in dropped tuning- might be a good place to start for a beginner as the rest of the strings play unaltered I think. DADGBE. Someone was playing it the other day ago..
@Lucywrites That is a very simple down tune. I agree.

I am learning the major first then minor. Theres so much to learn and it depends where you want to start i suppose.
