I Play the Guitar

Of Stupidity and Stratocasters
So Friday, I had some spare coin and excess stupidity to spend, and popped into my favorite pawn shop. He always has something fun on the guitar wall. This trip was no exception, yielding a Korean-made 1996 Stratocaster. The humbucker came from the factory, though I haven’t peeked under the pick guard to identify the pups yet.

Not a great pic of the stamp in the neck - Nov 96 - but a decent enough one of the guitar reassembled. The body is likely basswood; I’m too lazy to sand down the finish to ID it for sure, but it looks like basswood in the neck pocket and feels like basswood in terms of weight.

Spent some time with it Saturday, cleaning the neck and fret wires, adjusting the truss rod and bridge. While it doesn’t play as nicely as my green Strat, it does play rather nicely. Once I replace the nut, this one is ready for regular use. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with another Strat, except likely hot rod this one in a dumb fashion.

Looks like fun, I've never disassembled any of mine...

You have GAS = Guitar Acquisition Syndrome...

I’ve got bad GAS. If I had more space, I’d have so many more Gibson SGs. Those are my fav to play. @fun4us2b

@SW-User Me too - I have a new acoustic and mandolin not shown here....the white Strat is my fav, about 15 years old - plays beautifully
