Anyone Blocked Off The Trem Space on a Strat?

I have just finished blocking off the trem space on my Eric Johnson Strat. It took me 3 days to sand down the block to fit the space. But sadly I still managed to chip the laquer around the trem space.

Anyone else done this and how did they feel about the outcome. I have still to adjust the setup on the guitar following the work.

I normally have mine floating, just what I've fine for years. I've never blocked off one I set a friend's custom shop one up. He wanted it blocked I suggested we simply deck it. Five springs tightened right up I doubt it'll move. He agreed with me after I'd done that.

Fitting a plate is easy just will obviously devalue it being a signature model

@OldBrit I had decked it up until this point but thought I would give the block a try. To be honest, I had not decked it properly and the heel of the bridge was raised slightly off the body. However, the idea of the block increasing sustain appeald to me.
Plate? On the spring cavity? I wouldn't do that. I prefer the cavity open.
