I Play the Drums

Drums, Drums, And More Drums... I have always had a huge interest in drums. I just never actually got around to getting a kit or start learning until last year. I broke down and got a kit, finally releasing all that built up angst to bash on the kit. Growing up I was always a big Genesis and Phil Collins fan, and watching Phil and Chester Thompson's drum duels on stage has always inspired me. His drumming has always been dynamic and awe inspiring. Same goes for Neal Peart of Rush. I just kick myself in the ass for not doing it sooner. But for a semi-beginner, I am actually pretty spot on. I learned a few genesis and phil collins songs within a month or two, which for someone who's never hit a drum before I got the kit, that's pretty damn good. My timing and speed is getting a lot better, not perfect, but its definitely improving as the days go on. There's just something about drumming that gives me that release I always needed. You can just start to your own beat and just loose yourself in it. It's natural therapy. I now do it everyday and I'm actually teaching myself a lot of the time.
