I Play Bass Guitar

Any suggestions about how to get a full mellow tone from today's amps. I have a Fender Rumble 300 amp (which Fender seems to have discontinued) and while it's easy to get a full, mellow tone from the lower strings, on the higher notes the sound tends to lose volume and get kind of tinny or hollow sounding. I play Fender Bass VIs.

Think the amp might be clipping? BTW, you don't see a whole lot of Bass VIs, very cool.

@uncalled4 I've got 4 -- a custom-made version built from the original 1960s specs, a Fender Custom Shop "Relic" Bass VI, a Fender "Pawnshop" VI, and a Squire economy version.
