[Unusual instruments] Live session at Murmur studios - Kora and Handpan keyboard and guitar (Remastered)

A Kora is an northwest African harp like instrument.

It almost reminds of ancient ten string lute that's associated with just before the ten string harp guitars in a previous post of mine...

A beautiful meditative collaboration of kora, handpan, keys and guitar.

Most of us had only met a little before making this video. Gabriela Pollina and I (Josh Doughty) had planned to meet and play kora and handpan together, then Jasper trim and Finnegan Tui joined us on keys and guitar.

Together we created this lovely live jam session. Luckily, Nic and Jack were there to catch it on film.

It sounds and feels like summer rain! :)

@PoetryNEmotion Glad you liked. 😊

The handpan player as well as the Kora player are quite accomplished. I believe I once posted something by Gabriele Pollina, the handpan artist, before.

As to Josh Doughty, his YouTube channel has a number of tutorials on the Kora, in addition to other individual pieces of his own.

I especially would love to learn to play the handpan though. That instrument is far more versatile than it looks.

You possibly unknowingly point out just how versatile with the comment "sounds like summer rain.

Well take a close look at Gabriele's arms at the very beginning. He is muting the handpan with his arms to give just that summer-rain effect.

I won't go further into the other players though. I don't want to ruin it for others. 😁
