I like what Rich Moore told about that. A good movie is one in which one feels afterwards that one has journeyed with the characters

Hacksaw Ridge comes to mind, terribly brutal story, but it's hard to find a more clearcut hero than Desmond Doss

William Friedkin's film from 1977 called "Sorcerer." Holy shit is that a good movie. Basically, it's about 4 guys in a south American craphole country who volunteer to drive 4 trucks full of dynamite through the jungle to an oil well that's on fire so they can blow it up to put it out. It's a damn GREAT movie with Roy Scheider
