This makes me suggest readers read The Time Machine by HG Wells, a classic. The traveler goes to the past first and then to a very distant future where he comes on a society of people living in a paradise who are reminiscent of those who have all the conveniences but pretend they are in a state of nature. A cautionary tale for sure.
