Eisenkot Secures Enough Votes To Form New Israeli Government

The Israeli President held the last round of consultations with the Joint Arab List. They informed him that they chose to endorse Eisenkot, giving him 67 endorsements to Netanyahu's 46.

Herzog is expected to ask Eisenkot to form the government. Usually there's a deadline attached to it, and the Haredi will try to play hard ball to insure they continue to be exempt from mandatory military service.

This is huge. Until now, Joint List has refused to sit in any government.

@LeopoldBloom Eisenkot: you don't support Hamas, right? Joint List: fuck no. Eisenkot: I didn't think so, I'm your guy.

Eisenkot intends to ask Herzog not to pardon Netanyahu and drag him in for more, after the commission of inquiry is seated and is done with its investigation. I predict, they will find out Netanyahu ignore the Hamas threat for political purposes.

Hakeem and Chuck should watch and learn.

@Northwest May God have mercy on us and you'll be right.

Hope he is not like that MOFO Bibi.

This seems like good news. Let's hope for a more humanitarian approach to the issues in that country. I am still mindful of the fact that this is still a right of centre party.

Let’s see where this goes. It has not hit the British TV News screens yet.
But it is good news.

Well perhaps the Joint Arab List will choose Eisenkot, but that's not the point - the million-shekel question is: will Eisenkot choose them...?

There’s still no evidence that Eisenkotis willing to work with the Palestinian Arab parties.
Waveney · M
@Northwest That's as maybe, but there's a difference between recommending someone and forming a government with them.

Plus there is the considerable sticking point of Liberman's Yisrael Beytenu party having explicitly ruled out even an arrangement in which Arab MKs supported an Eisenkot minority government from outside. And he has 7 seats, which he could take to Netanyahu. And Bennett is not exactly champing at the bit either.

@Waveney Yes, that's a maybe. Sidelining Aran parties, nearly 16% of Knesset and 20% of the population cements Israel's defacto status as an apartheid state.

@Northwest I am crossing everything that Eisenkot's coalition will grit their teeth and join with the Palestinian Arabs. At the very least, Smotrich and Ben Gvir are Evil Incarnate and need to be removed.
