He said the reason the Americans killed in Syria were in Syria was so they could be killed and so justify America getting involved in another Israel expansionist war.

That sounds likely to me. Israel wants regional hegemony. They can’t get that without expanding their conflicts into neighboring countries. Since Israel’s military is entirely reliant on the US, they need to give us a reason to get involved.
