Proposed Gaza 60-Day Ceasefire

As ministers Ben-Gvir and Smotrich teamed up to derail talks for a Gaza cease-fire and hostage release, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said that 'There is a large majority in the government and among the Israeli people' to reach a deal.

If Ben-Gvir and Smotrich pull out of the cabinet, the Netanyahu government will collapse.

It's interesting to note that Ben-Gvir said...

He appealed to Minister Smotrich: "Let's join forces against this surrender deal. Our party alone can't block it. We must inform the Prime Minister that if he proceeds, we'll leave the government. Even in opposition, we won't topple him, yet cooperation is our only way to prevent this surrender and honor our soldiers' sacrifices."

I wonder why he thinks that highlighted portion? 🤷🏻‍♂

I would be inclined to agree with you, yet there must be a reason he said that, and in that way. Just after saying...
We must inform the Prime Minister that if he proceeds, we'll leave the government.

I suspect the sentence structures is critical in that statement.

And that is the fundamental problem. If Ben Gvir and Smotrich don't get their way, the govenrment collapses and Netanyahu will almost certainly go to jail.

He can't allow that.
