The Israel/Gaza War and the Waco siege. Are there points of comparison?

I think both cases show how innocent people led by fanatics can get caught up in fatal circumstances where the fanatics' actions cause actual harm or pose a threat of harm to persons over whom a governmental authority has a duty of responsibility.

On an isolated hill in the middle of nowhere, U.S.A., an armed conflict broke out that changed the face of the country. Millions of Americans watched as the largest military force ever deployed in the country set out to confront a civilian population: tanks and helicopters against men, women and children. It was the beginning of a 51-day siege in Texas, which ended with a mysterious fire that was broadcast live. The structure in which members of the Branch Davidian community had fortified themselves was burned to the ground. Seventy-six of those inside, among them 23 children and the cult’s leader, David Koresh, perished.

It's a huge stretch. Hamas was the result of direct actions that the Israeli government made. Whereas David Koresh was the result of much larger and undirect aspects of systemic issues caused by Capitalism.

@flipper1966 So I should be clear, when people say "Israel created Hamas" they mean it in the sense that Israel created the conditions that radicalized the Palestinians, then Israel funded Hamas. Not that Israel actually put together a group and named it Hamas.

The link says that Israel never funded Hamas, which just isn't true.
