How did the Jews lose their homeland in the first place?

Was it due to Romans? Muslims? Ottomans? Something else?

“The Jews” are not a homogeneous group who originated in one place.

There are Jews all over the world who were born in many places.

For example, I am American and the US is my homeland.

There are Jews in Canada and Canada is their homeland.

There are Jews in England and England is their homeland.

There are Jews in South Africa and South Africa is their homeland.

There are Jews in Iran and Iran is their homeland.

There are, of course, Jews in Israel and Israel is their homeland.

And so on.
you're not completely answering the question @RedBaron. All Jews , 2000 years ago originated from Israel (not all , there was a large diaspora already in Babylon). We were dispersed around the world as result of the Roman exile, which is where your comment enters the timeline. The main direction in the past 150 years is that Jews return to the land of Israel.

You are saying OK to your own comment.

@msros OK, but my OK was in response to BridgeOvertroubledWaters’ comment.

The @BridgeOvertroubledWaters tag, you see, was the hint you missed.
