Oopsie... Maybe it's time to mix up how you surprise your wife going forward from here???
Perhaps you could take it after you know that she has left work and if its not working as expected by the time she arrives home, give her a nice hot bath or a massage as an "extra" instead - that should buy you a little extra time.
