I was actually thinking of colitas. Yet I just checked the lyric and it is the "warm" smell of colitas, not the "sweet" smell. Oops.

When I first replied above, I also looked looked up colitas, since I had no clue what it was. Supposedly it refers to marijuana. I did not know that.

I think burning marijuana smells awful, though.

The Hotel California would be an upgrade from this place. 😄
