I saw a discussion talk on this once somewhere, and it mentioned 'the curse of Disney': where young impressionable minds are taught pretty=good, bad=ugly, and that once you have struggled, life will be easy.

Remember old fairy tales?
Some were horrific,...

... but Disney has changed them into "happily ever afters"....which is kinda scary psychologically speaking.

@OogieBoogie It's weird as fuck how saccharine people think kids entertainment should and needs to be these days. It's gottwn to an incredibly creepy and disturbing level of pleasent and wholesome. People forget what it was like to be a kid and actually crave some if those darker themes and lessons. Then they wonder why kids brought up on nothing but peaches and cream stories are so fragile willed.
@MethDozer its nuts.

I don't know why so many adults believe kids are stupid or simple ...they're not .

Or that they need protecting from basic everyday realities.

Kids are tough, resilient, open minded and curious.

We are raising deluded generations, who are more and more abstracted from RL.

@OogieBoogie I feel like there is a lot of women victim mentality in the sense that our lives will not get better unless we find our “prince charming”

I feel like a lot of young girls relate to their princesses sad stories and it gives them hope about the future and they cling to that.

The way belle basically got kidnapped and dealt with beasts abusive behavior until her love and patience magically “fixed” him and he stopped being an an angry beast and they all lived happily ever after

How about Cinderella. Young lady lives with your step mom and step sisters because her father passed away and is treated horribly while they are gloried. Her life is a struggle entirely until she meets her Prince Charming and they both live happily ever after

Boy I could go on all day

@MethDozer you hit the nail directly on the head

I used to tell my parents why can’t we be like the people on tv. They never fight or yell or bicker and everything is always perfect

I feel like it’s very destructive because they conditions an idealistic mindset of how we are supposed to be or act

And that isn’t realistic by any means

@OogieBoogie you are so right

@DeluxedEdition Those are the modern/Disney revamp versions of those stories though. Most of these fairy tales they are sourced from had darker, more cautionary themes to them.
@DeluxedEdition OH YEAH!

I didn't even touch on that ...but I totally agree.
Snow-white basically becomes a free live in house keeper,
Rapunzel goes off with the first guy she meets .

Amd let's not even mention the fucked up weirdness of Sleeping Beauty.

I mean...being 'kissed' awake, (if it was only that 😒), is sexual assault!

I mean...you see the offshoot here "who will buy me VIP?"...I've only seen girls ask this .

This is their mentality!!!

Its so fuck3d up.

@OogieBoogie I honestly can't fault the SW ladies for playing the finsub simps.
