Would you trust medicine that a Doctor prescribes, even if it causes you pain and might even give you the illness you're trying to fight against?

And there's a chance that it might not even actually work for you but there's no way to tell and no one knows what the long term side effects could be?
TexChik · F
I would get a second opinion

@TexChik
Same here.
I always get a second opinion.
NoahB · 26-30, M
I mean yeah. Is any medicine guaranteed to work? Like literally any of them?
Redstar · 36-40, M
@NoahB How come?
NoahB · 26-30, M
@Redstar because it was a transmissible disease that was killing old people in scores everyday
Redstar · 36-40, M
@NoahB Well shit, that actually sounds like a good reason.
Elessar · 26-30, M
Depends on the chance and the disease. If the disease had 4.0% changes of sending me to the hospital, ~25.0% of becoming chronic, or maybe the disease is even new and we don't know the long term complications, and the cure only 1:100,000 chances of causing important issues (after more than one year of observation), ~60% effectiveness against diagnosis of said disease but also 96% effectiveness at preventing hospitalization, then yeah, give me the cure. Between two unknowns, I'll pick the one that has known higher chances of being beneficial.

All the numbers and scenarios are of course purely hypothetical, like the scenario in the post.

"Trust" is a weird word. That more sounds like "Fuck it we'll try this it's risky as hell".

Judgement will depend on circumstances and person.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@CountScrofula Well, it is risky to take something that can cause those things to happen and has unknown possible future side effects. They might be small, or they might be devastating.
HOW WOULD YOU KNOW IF YOU HAVENT TRIED
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Greyscale Because of the people reported all those negative things after having it.
@Redstar thats only their testimonies. our body responds different.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Greyscale Yeah, testimonies based on peoples experience with how their bodies responded.
Doesn't mean everyone will have the same experience but that also doesn't mean it should be ignored.
Magenta · F
No I would not. I don't do meds of any kind.
Redstar · 36-40, M
@Magenta So it's all natural remedies for you, then?
