The Certainty of Numbers

I love doing margin analysis at my work. I created a spreadsheet that pinpoints exactly margin variances. I love that numbers gives you the definitive answer, no shades of grey.

I think it's the context, not the actual numbers, that remove ambiguity. When I got my first job, I was handed a book called "How to lie with statistics". I think it should be required reading for anyone dealing with numbers.

@Northwest All engineers at my university were given a copy of this book in their engineering statistics course. I still have it somewhere. It has been very useful through the years, particularly since Trump's election and here on SW.

@windinhishair The MAGAs have no fucking clue what "context" and "topic" means.

@Northwest They may understand what the words say, but they certainly don't use them in any appropriate manner (context).

I was just having this discussion. Numbers don’t hurt me like people do. Almost peaceful!
