I love doing margin analysis at my work. I created a spreadsheet that pinpoints exactly margin variances. I love that numbers gives you the definitive answer, no shades of grey.
I think it's the context, not the actual numbers, that remove ambiguity. When I got my first job, I was handed a book called "How to lie with statistics". I think it should be required reading for anyone dealing with numbers.
@Northwest All engineers at my university were given a copy of this book in their engineering statistics course. I still have it somewhere. It has been very useful through the years, particularly since Trump's election and here on SW.
