Even without what was probably a simple mistake there, from past experience I'd have to be pretty well starving to death to use these high-price, low-value chains!

I don't know if you see that sort of nonsense in their UK shops; but if they tried it they might be caught by the Trading Standards people asking is this a scam rather than mistake.
