Gib.
(Why "Gib"??)
Riemann · 31-35, M
@helenS Gib means Give in doggo language.
Town population is 500. If male population increases by 10% and female population decreases by 5%, then the total population increases by 1% . How many males are in the town?

@Riemann
m+f = 500
1.1 m + 0.95f = 505
solve([m+f=500, 1.1*m + 0.95*f=505],[m,f])
m=200, f=300

@helenS Correcto. Solve with Alligation.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Riemann Yes but why? It's a simple matrix equation.
Riemann · 31-35, M
@helenS It's because this math was in the Rules of Allegation section.

@Riemann I remember that in the context of my chemistry lessons: how much 15%-sulfuric acid do you have to add to 350mL of 85%-H2SO4 to obtain 55% sulfuric acid.
... and they were all scratching their heads...🙄
