Whats one makeup trend that you don’t understand logically ?

Perhaps I am a bit oldie but I don’t really understand the need or the look of long nails 💅.
Just why ?
When you can have nice trimmed clean nails ,why do people go to nail salons for nail extensions ,artificial nails or bizarre nail paint trends ?🤔🤔🤔
