Why celebrities from the 40s and 50s didn't need much makeup or plastic surgery to look good like the celebrities of today?

@SW-User Lol, yes and no. Perms, pancake makeup, girdles, hats and gloves. Stockings, and women rarely wore slacks in public.
Nowadays people wear pajama pants and sweats in restaurants.

@bijouxbroussard I agree with that. But Marilyn wasn't anorexia looking. I loved her better with her dark hair though. Now everyone seems to have the same plastic surgery face. A nose you can't sneeze through and those collagen injection lips. I love the older movie starlets.
