I Believe In Unconditional Love

Perhaps this will be an answer of sorts. Even my thoughts here are incomplete - I must admit.

Unconditional love is in many ways the same as fairy tale love in that it is always touted and held up by fiction as the ultimate standard of good. Be it gods, parents or friends, they shall love you simply because they have fallen into these perfectly defined roles - and as such, must act accordingly.

No surprises that a brief exposure to the world destroys that pretty little picture. People are simply people, and mixed with time, these ideals are far different than briefest fictions we aspire to.

All of this does not mean that I do not believe in unconditional love - nor do I hold to a nihilistic view of the world. Instead, I want to hold onto what is real, and the only way to do so is to find it for myself.

Unconditional love, is hard to define as I have experienced it. All too often it involves all of you - from the good and pleasurable moments to the darkest and most painful. After all, love is far more complicated than clever marketing has us believe.

I loved you unconditionally, as I do now. Everything I had ever discovered about you had filled in the picture of a person I held dear. It was not that I had to accept parts of you or decide to ignore others - they were simply facets of something that I wanted to percieve as a whole.

I know that even now the picture remains incomplete. Despite this, the love remains. It is the same as it was before. That was the love I held for you - and would always have for you, even if it remained unvoiced.
