@CookieCrisp I think we sometimes get "imprinted" by a parent or caregiver when we're young. Something unconscious deep inside decides "these traits are good," and then when we encounter the right combination of traits in someone our age later in life, the machinery of attraction starts turning.

Yeah, it's a very mechanistic soulless explanation, but at least it's grounded in behavioral science.
