To serve a true friend is the highest honor.

These words, which I recently heard, have grown on me.
I believe it means that being of service to a true friend in their hour of need is the greatest honor one can have.

It struck a nerve, though I'm not sure why; I'm still trying to grabthe deeper meaning behindthis thought.

What do you think?

A true friend is someone who doesn’t use you to reap the benefits of your friendship. They don’t abuse that friendship by taking and never reciprocating. They respect you and what you bring to that friendship. And they respect the person you are. So when they are in need I feel honoured to serve in whatever capacity they need. Because I know they would do the same for me.

@Luckylu I like how you described what friendship is. That unconditional love and respect is something people miss in their live. When you have it, hold onto it tight. Nice words.

@Luckylu Agree to this. Unconditional with no expectations other than loyalty. Sadly there is no loyalty anymore in all fields. Let it be friendship or dating
