To serve a true friend is the highest honor.

These words, which I recently heard, have grown on me.
I believe it means that being of service to a true friend in their hour of need is the greatest honor one can have.

It struck a nerve, though I'm not sure why; I'm still trying to grabthe deeper meaning behindthis thought.

What do you think?

I think it's because it's such a high compliment that someone trusts you so much when they're in need. You might feel honored that they chose you over someone else, even if the service is difficult.
