So I have a crush on this "obscure" (not actually obscure) 70s cartoon character named Black Vulcan, and today I was acting as if I was high thanks to him. Listening to music that reminds me of him makes me tear up because it reminds me of my crush on him AND the fact he isn't real, and the fact that my mom grew up watching this character on TV (she was a relatively normal child.)
Here's Black Vulcan in all his glory.
IDK why I have a crush on him. Is it the fact that he always shouted when something weird showed up (i.e. screaming "Great Lightning!") and I find that cute? Or is it that I have jungle fever (attraction to black men when you're white; before this, I had a crush on Cyborg, go figure.)

@Mothtoaflame I'm 16 and I'm freaking out, acting like I'm drunk over Black Vulcan. Most of my "friends" don't even know who this guy is. My MOM knows who he is.
Well, YOU found out who he was. Definitely old cartoon. I remember watching Super Friends when I was a kid. Crushes like this are normal when you're 16 or even older.
@Mothtoaflame Black Vulcan was replaced with Cyborg in the final season, aka the guy who I had a crush on before Black Vulcan. I'm sorry if this upsets Cyborg, but the fact he's half machine detracts from his hotness factor as well as his legs not being as bare as Black Vulcan's.
@Mothtoaflame But both the show and the comic were in development in 1976. Tony Isabella thinks Black Vulcan was a ripoff, but that isn't true. How would they know about a comic in development at the same time as their show, and besides they had a bunch of other original ethnic superheroes?
I think really simple ethnic superheroes were all the rage then. After all they had Apache Chief and Samurai as well. Super Friends wasn't just in development either. The program started in 1973 and by 1978 or so, they were just looking for more new characters and these really simple ethnic characters just fit the bill. Cyborg came along later as well, created in 1980 for the New Teen Titan comic and then sandwiched into whatever Super Friends cartoon came after it.
