I took the day off today, just because I felt like it. Still lying in bed, sipping coffee, wrapped in soft blankets, enjoying the quiet.

No rush, no plans… just a slow, cozy morning.

My office was closed the past two days.

Yet they told us on Friday to bring home our laptops so we could work from home.

Today they reopened. Yet people could still telework if they wanted. I drove in.

My office suite was empty!

Later, one other person showed up. But only because he misread the e-mail and thought he had to come in. He would have teleworked.

This whole office complex has only a few people. It usually has a few hundred. Yet the service staff are all here, and the salad bar was well stocked. I have never seen such a pristine pile of lettuce, peppers, onions, and cheese, and such a clean bottle of ranch dressing.
