I knew the time would come
It's the natural order of things

But the relentless weight loss
Signaled something entirely different

Doing the right thing at the right time
Was accelerated far beyond my wishes

He knew and I knew that the time was now
An act of compassion and love

My Buddy is gone now
And memories of him live strong in my heart

18 years is a long time to have a spirit with you
From kitten to final rest

He was a great cat
And a wonderful companion

I miss him
