Love, is it that thing I crave the most
Like an insatiable longing that terrifies?
Is it born of blood or bone or soul
Will it feed until I’m satisfied?

Or will it hunger and wander
Lost like a madness?
Will it shatter when I see it?
Afraid of its vastness

Will it leave me Cold Pastoral?
Just like the Grecian Urn
As my words make pretty pictures
But my body only yearns

Will I believe it when I feel it?
Or can I only feel what I believe?
Will your love really bring me home?
Or will it watch me as I leave?

Or did I just ask a million more?
Perhaps love is the answer
When I am broken on the floor

Love is like watching me bleed
And still adoring the ache of my chest
Love is cherishing the scar
When I fail to do my best

Love is falling apart
When falling apart makes no sense
Love is teaching and reaching
A girl too scared to leave her jagged fence

It is dreaming and desire
A burnt finger in the fire
A pleasure and a treasure
Unearthed only be endeavour

So don’t believe me when I say
I don’t believe in love
Love is the tragedy
