The quote: I can love you and still let you go
“I can love you and still let you go.” When it is better to let someone go for their personal happiness and well-being than to keep them in a relationship that is holding them back in life. It is to find acceptance and closure of a painful situation. It is to release them from being trapped in a relationship where they are not getting their needs met and when the obstacles towards your love are not being overcome. Maybe you realize you’re not as emotionally mature and are toxic because of unresolved personal problems or it could be something else. For me I realized I had too many personal problems to overcome and I was holding back this wonderful person from finding real life love closer to home and I was unhealthy for him. He loved me so much but I was such a mess. He also thought that he was holding me back from finding real life love. He thought it was not positive for my future to stay with him. I let him go as my lover for a few weeks thinking I was doing the right thing but I asked him to take me back when I couldn’t take the pain of separation but he thought not good for my future. He let me go as a lover. We kept each other as friends for eight months. Then after seriously dating and getting engaged to a woman he knew for maybe two and a half months he cut me loose as a good friend too. He moved on and left me completely behind. I tried to salvage the friendship but he never responded to me again. So I had no choice but to give up and let him go. He’s happier now I’m sure and with someone who can give him the love he always needed. I was angry and sad he left me as a friend but now I understand he needed to let me go so he could continue with his life and heal completely. In addition, I’m sure his wife would not want him communicating with me as his ex girlfriend even if we were truly staying friends with no thoughts of ever getting back together. Even if I was not a homewrecker and he was not a cheater to begin with, she would feel suspicious and upset. He wanted harmony in his new relationship and marriage I’m sure. So now I’m still nursing a broken heart which was my fault for starting to be sure. Someday I’ll only be left with love and warm affection for the man who gave me seven to eight years of his life. I hope he is happy and secure in life and feels safe and at peace. I was so angry and sad when I told him all the negative circumstances that happened to me and he never responded. I feel to be honest after all this time maybe he does not care anymore though he loved me once. Even if he did care as a good friend, he can’t contact me as that would probably upset his wife. I just need to move on even though I’ll never stop loving him deep down. It just was not meant to be. He promised me we would always remain friends before he met his wife and I thought we would always be in each others lives even if not as boyfriend and girlfriend. How naive of me. I know after being with him I will never be the same again. I may find a comfortable love one day but I don’t think I will love as intensely as I did for him. I will always be like his Hannah baker to his clay Jensen except I’m alive. He loved me and decided to let me go. I loved him and let him go in the end. It’s a tragic situation to be in but as the saying goes it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I lost the love of my life but maybe someday will find someone else. Not to the point of replacing him because he is irreplaceable, but maybe a comfort and consolation kind of love.someone who will understand me again and will know I lost my soulmate but still have some love in me to give. I lost my soul mate but maybe I will meet my life mate who will grow old with me. Who knows? I will always be spiritually bonded to Sujeet I feel even if his caring of me has faded away. Maybe he still does care but won’t contact me because he would see it as a betrayal of his wife. Maybe he no longer cares at all and rarely remembers me now. Either way I’ll never know. Sometimes I wonder what my life would have been like if I never knew Sujeet. I would be simply missing something but not sure what it was. Now I know.
