"...In Sickness And In Health..." THIS Is Unconditional Love ❤

Three years into their marriage, Michael J. Fox received a diagnosis that would break most people.

He was 29. Early-onset Parkinson’s disease.

When he looked at his wife, Tracy Pollan, terrified of what the future held, she didn’t flinch. She simply looked back and reminded him of the words they spoke at the altar: in sickness and in health.

Those weren't symbolic lines whispered in front of a crowd. They were a contract written in stone.

For seven years, he fought the tremor in silence, hiding it on set, carrying a terrifying secret. Tracy carried it with him. When he finally went public in 1998, she stood shoulder-to-shoulder with him, facing a world that suddenly looked at him differently.

Decades passed. Four children. Relentless progression. Countless surgeries, broken bones, quiet fears, and a brutal disease that rewrote their entire timeline.

Through every single second of it, he never once had to fight alone.

When Michael stood on stage to accept the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award at the Emmys, recognized for raising billions to find a cure, the applause thundered. But his eyes went straight to Tracy. Not as a red-carpet guest, but as the quiet anchor who weathered every storm behind closed doors.

It is easy to promise forever when the sun is out and the world is cheering.

The vow only counts when the ground falls out beneath you, the lights go down, and you still refuse to let go.

Love opens the door. Unbreakable commitment keeps the roof standing.

Tag someone you’d choose all over again, through every storm. ❤

I would have chosen my husband time and time again. He slipped a disk a few years before he died and the disk moved and was pressing on some nerves causing him pain. He also lost some feeling in his groin and occasionally struggled with use of his legs. He was at times incontinent so I helped with that sometimes too. There were many occasions when he cared for me as well. It's what you do when you love someone. ❤
@CrazyChick21 Indeed it is. I'm so sorry he's gone, but I'm so glad you got to be with each other.

Always thought the definition of love wasn't enough. Nor, for that fact, the nine greek versions.

It is interesting that the greeks had a form of obsessive love — Mania. Don't confuse it with manical or insanity. This is about love. — Yet not a word for devotional love.

Even Agape wouldn't fit the devotional type of love. Selflessness doesn't imply devotion.

Unconditional love simply wouldn't fit either. It presumes Agape, which doesn't require devotion.

Try to magine Agape as a dedication to everyone but yourself, yet only over a specific time. You simply can't love everyone all the time. Not even the Greek version of Zeus himself did so. 🤣

Yet devotion can be applied to friends and family. Or other forms of love.
