Is love transactional? Why/ why not?

What’s your experience? I’ve heard that only relationships are transactional.. not necessarily love. I’d like to think true love transcends all boundaries.

Transactional ? I don’t understand. If that means based upon what you can give or get, It doesn’t sound like a positive thing.
