Is love transactional? Why/ why not?

What’s your experience? I’ve heard that only relationships are transactional.. not necessarily love. I’d like to think true love transcends all boundaries.

In theory, unconditional love does exist. However, I'd say most love is transactional in some degree, especially in modern times.
