How’s your social life like? You have close friends or anybody else that you love? From what I read, mourning is usually months to a couple of years. 8 years is way too long. I’m no professional in psychology, but it sounds like you might be clinically depressed? Sleeping a lot, feeling of unhappiness, hopelessness, etc.

Maybe your life’s a bit stale and you don’t have much going on. Your fond memories are the only things giving you happy thoughts. That kind of love is a bit extra and doesn’t seem normal to me. Might be a genuine feeling you have for a family or just a way for you to explain to yourself why you’re sad, in other words a way for you to cope with your depression.

Have you seen a therapist or a psychiatrist? The issue might be chemical imbalance or being traumatized when you lost her.
