Are men overly nice?

Do women like to be put on a pedestal by men? Wondering if some might deem it flattering

How can men be overly nice? There was this girl I liked so her friend helped for us to meet and we all went to a local diner at 2am for coffee. Things were going great until the girl I liked went to the bathroom with her friend. Anyway the next day when I asked her friend what happened, she said oh, "you're too nice of a guy to be with, because you didn't hit and yell at her"

Sounds crazy to me.
