🤣🤣🤣😍 I love this guy!

Still watching my youtube crush with his watercolors. Talking about mixing today. He has charts. He prefers to take a half dozen primaries and know what he gets by mixing them rather than have a palette of two dozen and hunt around and worry about what’s going to happen if they mix. He can go through his paintings and tell you what colors were used in any spot. It’s like listening to a besotted man describe his lover. His knowledge and understanding are intimate. Incredible talent aside, it’s his romantic sort of sense that appeals to me. As he’s going through his charts - and quite lovely they are, too - he mentions people ask him all the time to make them downloadable. With a little chuckle under his breath, he says he isn’t going to do that. Too easy. You have to do it yourself. Put in the work. His charts may prove useful, but you’ll get so much more out of making your own. And you do. I think we all know you do, no matter what your interest is. Everything is personal to some extent. Your experience builds upon where you are, who you are. And intimacy does not grow from a cold reference created by someone else. I started making charts… putting in the work, so to speak. But I found it was not work. Not anymore work than trailing your fingers over that lover’s body to learn its secrets. It is exploration, and it is love. What I learn from it is something he could never show me. So here’s this man who could probably make a pretty penny charging for downloadable charts, but he doesn’t, because he wants you to build on that love, make it yours. Kind of beautiful, I thought. 😌
