My wife has a soft heart.

Three weeks ago someone brought her a partially fledged baby house sparrow that fell out of its nest. She decided to try to raise it. It is now taking short flying hops and loves to ride on her shoulder. It can't fly high enough to get on top of the couch so it will crawl up her leg when she sits down. I told her that when it can fly on its own it can go outside and find a mate to make its own way in life. She wants to keep it.

Perhaps it will decide for itself to stay with her. I suppose it will be a decision between love and blue skies.

@Ceinwyn Yes it is impossible to say. A number of years ago she raised some orphaned pigeons. They grew up and flew away.

@hippyjoe1955 Dogs know a dog person. Cats can spot a cat person. Perhaps this sparrow looked at your wife and can see someone worth living in a cage for. At least for now.
just keep the window open and let it choose
You're lucky.
