I Love to Write
Where do you keep your happy memories?
Do you keep them locked up?
Maybe safely wrapped
In layer upon layer?
Do you fear they may be damaged?
Or lost for ever?
Last sparkles left from time gone
Do you let them out
When darkness creeps on you?
Do you let them out
And find comfort and strengths
From their glow
Do you still feel their warmth in your chest,
Just like when it first hit your heart.
Do you remember sieving
Through heaps of pain and anger,
Despair and disappointments,
Until all that was left
Were those precious gems,
So pure and so strong
That they survived the cataclysms.
Rolled, over and over again,
Tumble washed and polished,
Where do you keep those
Precious by-products of time flowing?
I hope you carry them on you at all time,
To remind yourself of all that you lived through,
That for all the grit you dug through,
Those are life's gifts.
Do you keep them locked up?
Maybe safely wrapped
In layer upon layer?
Do you fear they may be damaged?
Or lost for ever?
Last sparkles left from time gone
Do you let them out
When darkness creeps on you?
Do you let them out
And find comfort and strengths
From their glow
Do you still feel their warmth in your chest,
Just like when it first hit your heart.
Do you remember sieving
Through heaps of pain and anger,
Despair and disappointments,
Until all that was left
Were those precious gems,
So pure and so strong
That they survived the cataclysms.
Rolled, over and over again,
Tumble washed and polished,
Where do you keep those
Precious by-products of time flowing?
I hope you carry them on you at all time,
To remind yourself of all that you lived through,
That for all the grit you dug through,
Those are life's gifts.
