Does the Fire..?

by: Rob Paquin

Does the fire know it's flame
Does it know that as it burns
That it sheds light and provides us heat
Does its radiant flickers yearn

Does it desire to be freed
Does it wonder when it smolders
And could that fire sit next to me
As it and I grew older

Can it feel the sensuality
In the way its flames writhe 'round
Twirling, rising, from its embers
Scorching the hallowed ground

Dancing there upon the stage
Melting hearts as they perspire
Mesmerizing in its sultry ways
As its flames burn ever higher

Dancing there so languidly
Love heated in it's pyre
Does it see what we can see
Does it know of our desire

This rhyme was inspired by thoughts instilled in me this morning by the user @ChampagneOnIce after I read one of her posts while sipping coffee. And though she is a vibrant, sensual, beautiful woman, this rhyme should not be mistaken by anyone as containing overtures of love sent forth in her direction. We are friends and I enjoy our interactions very much. But the rhyme is just a rhyme. A set of creative words that could definitely be misconstrued or mistaken quite easily given my lessons of history here.

Her post made me think about the way a lot of people here can burn bright and shine like a Nova's Star and never see the way we see them at the time. The way some people walk around lamenting their supposed lack of worthiness of love, attention or good thoughts from others.

You are all fire, my friends, and I love to watch you burn !
