It's just one of those days

I was sitting here on my couch, and as I looked out the window my mind couldn't help itself. I began to write. My intentions were to jump into one of my incomplete stories to work on, but this showed up instead.

Flowers in the window, the sun beaming in
White petals spread wide on long stems
I wonder how long their joy will smile
The vase is deep, cold, not mother earth
A tree hovers outside
Its red buds are long gone
A firm grip it holds with roots dug deep
Does it mock the white petals or feel the sadness to come
For one day soon the smile will fade, and stems will go bare
Yet, I think there is joy within the tree bark
For it knows the masters love
There will be a new season of blooms and bees
And in the window something new for it to see
Something of color to brighten the room within
As God’s bright light shines
And dances through the window panes
