I Love to Write

I'm working on a Science Fiction novel at the moment, as well as a series of Doctor Who scripts. Exciting stuff. To me at least. And no, I won't be posting any of it here. I'll link to the Doctor Who scripts when they're all done though.

@Quizling It's even more annoying how they decided to change the numbering. The classic series contains seasons, and the new show contains series. So season 9 and series 9 are 2 completely different things... so annoying. I've seen a few of the originals here and there. Most of what I know comes from a friend who has watched all of the classic series. My favourite companion is K-9.

@Quizling I know, I love Paul McGann's Doctor. I don't think the movie really did his character justice. I own the Big Finish Doctor Who stories, but haven't gotten around to listening to them yet.

@Quizling Speaking of characters from the classic series, there may be a familliar face or two in my scripts. shhh :)

@Quizling The difference with Rose and Amy was that they were still the companion. The Doctor still got to be the Doctor. But within Clara's first 6 episodes she knew everything about the Doctor and all his lives and could even fly the TARDIS. They went too far with her. With Amy and especially with Rose, the Doctor could still be all explain-y and show-off-y, but that could never really happen with Clara.

@Chloe - That's a very good point actually. No-one without a brain the size of a planet should be able to fly the TARDIS, hell, it's supposed to take six Gallifreyans to do it normally (hence the hexagonal console).

I am actually missing real male companions (not like Rory who was Amy's +1), and alien companions. The whole of time and space, and he keeps picking up people from the middle of contemporary London :(

@Quizling I've been ranting at my friends to the point of causing them strife about how much I want an alien companion or a male companion who isn't an (admittedly good) plus one or only on for a few episodes (Jack). I mean they got this right in the first series in 1963 for heaven's sake, with Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright. Why can't they get it right now! Damn you Steven Moffat!
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@Quizling Yeah, K-9 is often used as more of a plot devide than a character, sadly.
SW-User
@Chloe - To be honest, they lost the male companions with Colin Baker, so Mr Moffat can't take the blame for that one, lol... Although it IS in his power to bring them back.

Nice to meet a younger Doctor Who fan who even acknowledges the original run, let alone one who also knows the original companions :D
SW-User
@Chloe - Always nice to have an old companion pop up. I often wonder what happened to them after they leave the ship...

Have you ever listened to the Big Finish radio Doctor Who? Paul McGann's stories are brilliant!

Interestingly enough, he is actually the longest serving Doctor, but with the least screen time, lol

@Quizling That's Clara's fault. As much as I utterly hate with my entire being and soul how they ended Clara's story, at least she's gone, and the Doctor has an opportunity to reclaim his rightful place as the main character of his own show.

@Quizling I lost all interest when they killed Ianto. He was my favourite character in all of the Doctor Who Universe, no joke. I was so sad when he died. I pretty much liked it until that point though. I'm still hoping Ianto comes back though. Somehow.
SW-User
@Chloe - I liked Torchwood to begin with, I have a bit of a crush on Jack I have to admit, lol. But when they killed off half of the original team I felt it started to slide, and I didn't like the latest couple of mini-series at all... :(
SW-User
Sounds interesting, looking forward to reading them!

Remember though, no-one gives a monkey's right testicle about the Doctor any-more... The assistant is always the most important person in the Universe... Well, at least that's how it seems these days :(
SW-User
@Chloe - It truly annoys me that they restarted the series numbering too. We are on series/season 35... not 9, lol

Have you managed to go back and watch any originals? (and when I say go back, I don't mean in time) :p
SW-User
@Chloe - I loved K9... It does kind of annoy me that he is treated as largely disposable. I think we are on the fourth one now, and yet no mention is made of transferring his memory. He breaks, they get a new one!
SW-User
@Chloe - Well, that's the thing, absolutely anything can happen with access to a TARDIS. Well, as long as the Doc isn't being a fanny about 'fixed points'... Never used to bother him in the old days when he was a 'renegade' :D
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@Quizling I know, so many people don't even know the old series exists. And I came so late to the party, would you believe I only started watching in May of 2014!
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@Quizling Time Meddlers are Time Lords who don't follow the rules and interfere with time. And I believe the Monk was indeed a Time Meddler.
SW-User
@Chloe - And Rose, and Amy, etc etc, lol

Glad I am not the only one who has noticed though x
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@Quizling Yeah, I miss the days when the Doctor was a true Time Meddler!
SW-User
@Chloe - Wasn't that the Monk? A William Hartnell story I believe, lol ;)
SW-User
@Chloe - I best not say too much then.. "Spoilers, sweetie!" lol
RoboChloe · 26-30, F
@Quizling Ha, nice. So what did you think of Torchwood?
SW-User
@Chloe - You certainly know your stuff x
