I Love to Write

Coffee in hand, I now sit quietly, listening to rain pelting the metal roof in a rhythmic way. My chores were done early and when sloshing through the flooded yard as I walked to the horse barn, I feared the water would run over the top of my rubber boots as I walked carefully, minding I didn't step into a hidden hole.

Due to the storms my horses stayed inside and left me piles to clean at a later time. I wonder if the water continues to rise if they will learn the back stroke!

I fell in love with this place when I moved here but over the years, due to unkempt waterways and the Mississippi river over flowing. I have lost that love. Higher ground is in my forecast! Maybe a move to the Ozark mountains or the beautiful blue ridge area. Maybe just down the road an hour away into the local hills! Where ever I go, I will look forward to seeing any water run down hill!

we moved from foothills of nc to flat lands of southern illinois ...

it's raining buckets now...a slow creeping flood...

takes days and days to soak in..

@maxeen I lived in Beautiful South Carolina and moved to the Mississippi delta area. To flat, not enough trees, always wet or bone dry. Thick sticky gumbo when its wet or rock hard dirt when its dry. Only a place the farmers could love. So Sweetheart, I know your pain!
